Further, Fuel cells combine oxygen and hydrogen, which is used to generate electric power. There’s no explosion involved.

We can get hydrogen by reversing the electrolysis process of water. The problem is that the process of extracting it requires a great deal of energy. Around 95% of hydrogen production currently relies on fossil fuel energy sources. Despite this, the overall environmental impact of using hydrogen powered vehicles produced from fossil fuels is still 40-50% lower than gasoline combustion engine vehicles.
